ASH WEDNESDAY

‘Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.’

Wednesday 2nd March 7pm: Contemplative Eucharist with imposition of ashes

Ash Wednesday marks the start of lent. Ashes are a traditional sign of penance and fasting as we begin the disciplines associated with Lent, recalling Jesus’ period of fasting in the wilderness.

 

Stations of the Cross

‘If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me’ Matthew 16.24

A short service of Lenten devotion. We walk the way of the cross and hear

 

 

Lent Talks: Prayer

 

 

After our 10am service we gather for a short reflection on prayer & ways of praying, followed by an opportunity to explore this way of prayer. Readings & resources to aid reflection each week will be available to collect in church.

  • Sunday 3rd April: The Jesus Prayer

 

At-home Bible Study: Money Makes Change

We launch our Bible Study series, ‘Money Makes Change’, on Sunday 6th March.

These four Bible studies can be done at home, or with family and friends in a small group. We’ll do the first together on Sunday 6th March with our guest preacher Sarah Edwards. Each is designed to help connect faith and small everyday decisions to help build a fairer world.

Wednesdays in Lent 6pm

9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th March, 6th April

An hour of silent prayer in the presence of the Sacrament, immediately after Evening Prayer.

Come and go quietly as you are able at any point during the hour.

 

Sacrament of Reconciliation

 

 

Throughout Lent, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) will be available to all in church by appointment with Fr Simon – frsimon@stpeterdebeauvoir.org.uk

A wonderful opportunity to encounter God’s healing grace & loving forgiveness.

Guest Preacher on 6th March

On the first Sunday in Lent (Sunday 6th March) at 10am we welcome Sarah Edwards, Executive Director of the Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility (ECCR).

Sarah has worked in global advocacy and social justice campaigns for two decades, focusing on tackling the environmental crisis and global poverty together. She has worked on a range of human rights & justice issues, including at Jubilee Debt Campaign, Anti-Slavery International & Health Poverty Action.

After the service, we’ll introduce our Lent at Home Bible Study ECCR’s ‘Money Makes Change’.
