A message from Father Simon:
‘I am hugely excited to have been called to serve as your next vicar, and cannot wait to join the church family at St Peter’s and to begin to get to know everyone in the church and wider De Beauvoir Town community. I grew up in West London (though my grandmother hailed from Bow), spent some time studying theology at Oxford, and encountered community organising whilst discerning vocation in Canning Town, before serving a curacy and later becoming priest-in-charge of a parish in Ealing Broadway.
I currently serve at St Mellitus – a theological college which trains people for various forms of ministry – whilst assisting at a welcoming and inclusive Anglo-Catholic parish, St Cyprian’s near Baker Street. I also serve as a trustee of Migrants Organise, an inspirational charity that empowers the voice of marginalised migrant and refugee communities, and the Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility, whose Money Makes Change programme helps Christians and churches achieve social and environmental justice in small ways through their everyday habits and spending.
I’m passionate for the joyful celebration of the Eucharist as fuel for Christian and community life and I really cannot wait to meet everyone as together we discern how God is calling us to thrive as church and community in the months and years to come. Please pray for me as I prepare to leave my current roles and please be assured of my prayers for you as the interregnum begins to come to a close. Thank you for all that each of you are bringing to the vibrant life of St Peter’s!’
