Intercessions

From Jay Wilkes

Our first reading began “Do not fear O soil”.

How ironic at time when we maximise our yield and weaken the soil quality because we fail to live in balance with nature.

“Do not fear you animals of the field for the pastures of the wilderness are green”

We continue to cut down the trees and reduce huge areas to barren land.

As we approach the Cop 26 Summit we ask you Lord to change our hearts and actions.

Lord in your mercy hear our prayer

We thank you for the abundance of crops and the beauty of Autumn. We thank you for the effectiveness of the Covid vaccination programme.

We are conscious that we can misuse your gifts when we fail to share our food with the poor,

we fail to organise society sufficiently to provide for basic needs

and where vaccine scepticism divides families and friends.

We pray for our Government as it seeks to calm fears of shortages.

We ask that we can each learn how to be part of the local solution by our actions and attitudes here in Hackney.

We pray for more helpers in our local food bank in Hackney.

We know that everyone is precious in your sight.

Help us to live in peace and dispel fear.

Help us to share Jesus’ words “Do not be afraid”.

Help us to bring others to the knowledge of Truth.

Lord in your mercy hear our prayer

We pray for the leaders of the church in our Diocese, for Stephanie and for Simon as he prepares to come to St Peters.

We pray for those in our church who lead worship asking for safe travel for Eckart and Alison as they sing with their choir in the Vatican this weekend.

We thank you for the abundance of music here and especially for Romee and David and the return of the choir.

Lord help us here in St Peters to remember you are in our midst and guide us in making St Peters fruitful with in this community and building up our joint life.

We pray for a blessing on the newest member of our church Scarlett Skye who was baptised on Saturday.

Lord in your mercy hear our prayer

We pray for any who are sick and anxious at this time. We pray that they may find daily strength, hope and peace.

We pray for those who feel shame to move on into a new way of thinking.

Lord in your mercy hear our prayer

We pray for the families of Joan Skeete and Gordon Webb as the funerals are held this week and for anyone known to us who has died recently.

Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord and

May thy light perpetual shine upon them.

Merciful Father

Accept these prayers for the sake of your son , our saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen
