Intercessions

From Paul Snow

Let us gather the thoughts of our hearts and the longings of our souls and offer them to you, O Lord, with thanksgiving and hope.

Creator Lord, we bring before you our wonder at the abundance and diversity of all that comes from you. Help us to see your image in each other and your love for us all in the world around us.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Holy Spirit, we bring before you the leaders of the secular world. Inspire them with your wisdom that is peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and generosity.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Redeemer Lord, we bring before you the leaders of your church. Grant them the grace and humility to lead as you lead. We ask your special blessing on all those who minister to this community and congregation and offer our prayers for Simon Cuff in this time change and challenge.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Exiled Lord, we bring before you those whose lives mirror yours, without a secure place to call home. Give us the courage and hospitality to welcome strangers from near and far into our hearts and our communities.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Lord of the dance, we offer you our joys and hopes.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Healing Lord, we bring before you those who suffer in body, mind or spirit and ask your special blessing on the healers in our midst. Help us to sustain and support them.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Spirit of truth, we bring you our secrets and fears.

Lord, meet us in the silence

And hear our prayer

Resurrected Lord, we offer our prayers for Clarence Skeet, mourning his wife’s recent death, and remember those whose year’s mind falls at this time – Basil Lake, Martha England, James Berry.

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord

And may light perpetual shine upon them

Gathering our prayers with our patron Peter, we ask as one, Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
