Sermon

Intercessions

From Boachie Dankwah

In the union with Christ and the communion of saints let’s intercede for our church and the world and seek God’s divine intervention especially the state of our global climate. We pray for everyone at St Peter’s for their part and support in diverse ways to make the church function.  We pray for Fr Simon whose service of installation takes place here at St Peter’s next week Sunday.

Lord, in the silence

Hear our prayer

We hold in our heart and mind those arriving at our borders may be welcomed, protected and empowered to find opportunity of integration. We pray that those who seek to make a home in this country and other parts of the world especially refugees may find us or whichever country they find themselves in welcoming and willing to help them. We also hold in our heart and mind those who have fallen foul to the laws of this country and serving their time behind bars. Dear Lord, make these ex-offenders new and be accepted in your sight and in our society.

Lord, in the silence

Hear our prayer

Spiritual God, we pray for your spiritual healing for these who suffer in body, mind and spirit. Fill them with the peace and joy that only come from you during this hard time. Walk closely beside them during their journey of healing and recovery that we know is possible through you.

Lord, in the silence

Hear our prayer

Lord our comforter, loss of loved ones brings us grief, distress and pain. We ask that you comfort and strengthen those who have lost loved ones recently and make them whole again.

We remember those who have gone before us and the anniversary of their death falls at this time – namely Kathleen Hinds, Ava Johnson and David Herbert.

Rest eternal grant unto the O Lord,

And may thy light perpetual shine upon them.

Almighty Lord, as we begin new week, we humbly ask that you grant us all what our heart desires in the name of your son Jesus Christ.

Merciful Father,

Accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen
